10 / 10      A great site for feedback      Submitted By: vadhagh

Garageband, all-around, is a great site. The offer a forum and can offer unlimited MP3 hosting of your band's songs. The main feature of Garageband is the peer-review system. It's designed to encourage the reviewers to say something a little more insightful than 'i liked it a lot', so it can be a great place to get some constructive criticism at the very least. If you have an account with CDBaby (also highly recommended), you can link to your CDBaby account so anyone interested in your music can easily purchase it. The rankings can potentially give you some exposure and I've even gotten a couple of sales from Garageband personally, though keep in mind that most of the people reviewing will probably also be musicians who are looking to sell their own music and not necessarily people looking to shill out money on someone else's music. Still, at the very least, it can be a great place to rack up some free reviews to use on your myspace or homepage...

10 / 10      THE site for musicians with cd's to sell      Submitted By: vadhagh

If you have a cd to sell, you MUST get it on CDBaby! Basically, you set up your page, send CDBaby a few copies of your cd, and sit back while CDBaby acts as an online store for your music and gets your music to places that you ordinarily could not access: itunes, rhapsody, napster and amazon.com and any place else where the big bands are selling. They take care of the work, notify when stock is low, and send you the checks (or Paypal), along with notifications when you make salse including detailed info about the customer. Also, Derek has tons of pages of tips from his years of personal experience on how to promote and generally be more efficient within the music business. The only downside is that it can take several months for your tracks to be send out and verified by all of the mp3 vendors (though, this isn't the fault of CDBaby; it's just a lengthy process). If you have a cd, you need CDBaby!
